Agun Kuguza is an invisible spirit from the beliefs of the Cheremis/ Mari people of the former Soviet Union. The Agun Kuguza‘s roughly translates as ‘Drying House Old Man’. He lives in the dry store house used for dry foods such as various grains. If friendly he will help the harvest but if neglected or made angry he will curse the harvest and ruin it. It was traditional to propitiate Agun Kuguza by sacrificing a small farm animal every autumn.
