Alcyoneus - Greek
- Greek (culture)
- Giant (attribute)
- Deadly (behaviour)
One of the Gigantes in Greek mythology. His name means ‘the Brayer’ and he ruled the other Giants together with Porphyrion. He had the body of a human but had serpent arms and legs and snakes heads instead of feet. The Gigantes were born fully clad with armour and weapons and on creation they immediately attacked the Olympian gods. Alcyoneus had the unique ability of immortality as long as his feet touched the ground. This was a power he had received due to his close connection with Gaia. Athene secretly discovered this power and its weakness and told this to Hercules. During the next battle, Hercules lifted Alcyoneus off the ground thus disabling the Giant’s immortality and carried him away to be killed.
