This features in one of the mythological stories of ancient Greece. After the people of Aetolia failed to give enough sacrificial offerings, the goddess, Artemis released a savage boar that ravaged the country. A hero called Meleager was called upon to slay the creature and so he set of with a band of heroes to bring justice to Aetolia. The huntress Atlanta who was accompanying Meleager, shot down the boar. The wounded boar was then killed by Meleager. When Meleager offered the dead boar as credit to Atlanta a violent dispute ensued in which Meleager was slain.
