The Carl of Carlisle was once a knight who had been transformed into a Giant by a curse. When King Arthur’s knights, Sir Gawain, Sir Kay and Sir Baldwin visited the castle of Carlise where the Giant lived, they were able to break the spell by decapitating the Giant. The Giant then morphed back to his former self, the Carl of Carlisle.
