A popular spirit of the house from Chinese folklore. The Chin Chia was associated with scholarship and studies. His name means ‘Gentlemen in Golden Armour’ as he can be seen in shinning armour waving a green flag at the front door of a house whose inhabitants are going to be particularly successful in their academic studies. The Chin Chia also visits those who engage in literature and scholarship but abandon their studies. The Chin Chia would give out punishments to such lazy students.
