One of four animals that helped in the creation of man in Mayan myth. It was a crow that brought the grains of maize to the gods so that man could be formed. The other animals were Quel a parrot, Utiu a coyote, and Yac a forest cat. Coyote features in many stories meeting with Wekwek, Tietholsodi and others. In one story he is killed so that his blood can be splattered on sacred bones in a bowl to create the first man and woman in the world.
