Irish version of the Grugach. The Grogans are helpful fairy creatures of Celtic folklore that are 4ft tall. They have many different appearances but like Brownies they offer help around the house. Usually they are long haired naked little men, with broad shoulders and good strength. Some describe them as soft bodied little men with large heads. In the Highlands they would dress in expensive clothes and watch over cattle and sometimes they appeared as blonde haired little women dressed in green. It is believed that giving clothes to a naked Grugach was a method to get rid of them. Oddly enough Grugach is used in Scottish folklore to describe a fearsome Giant who has magical powers and is like an Ogre with long hair. In this form he is similar to the Green Man and Woodwose.
