A shape shifting sea god of Korean myth. He competed with Haemosu in a shape shifting contest but was defeated in both air, land and sea. He conceded to letting his daughter marry Haemosu. On the day of the wedding, the daughter returned to Habaek who was furious after all the troubles and loss of reputation he had gone through. So as punishment he turned his daughter into a fish. When she was finally caught by fisherman, Haemosu sent a beam of light from heaven to impregnate her.
