A female Taniwha or fairy of Maori myth. She married a human named Tane-Kino. They lived happily together but when Tane-Kino’s family knew of her wife being a Taniwha they made wicked insults to her. Feeling deeply hurt and rejected by the remarks, she ran away to live under a waterfall once known as Te Reigna.
