A name given to a fake monster that was man made and created to fool people into thinking a mythical creature had was real or a new one had been discovered. There have been many Jenny Hanivers from many cultures across the globe. The art of making false creatures began in the Middle Ages and the art is still in existence today. The name came from Antwerp, previously known as Anvers, in Belgium where many Jenny Hanivers were made. However fake monsters have appeared in China, Japan and the Middle East. They were created from bones of several real species sewn together. They were then coated with skin and had special chemicals poured on them to make them look genuine. Some were so well created that experts have been fooled for years.
