Sometimes the word Kami refers to the nature spirits of Japan. At other times it is used to describe the enormous catfish that lives beneath Japan. It shakes its body producing earthquakes. A god once thrust his sword in the earth skewering the head of the fish. Whenever an earthquake strikes the god simply pushes down on his sword. A lord once tried to dig the sword up but after six long days of work he failed to dig to the bottom of the sword and gave up. The Kami is similar to Jinshin-Uwo and Jinshin-Mushi.
