An alternative name for the Unicorn in medieval Europe. The original name of the creature came from the ancient Greek ‘Monokeros’ which means With ‘a single horn’. This then became the Latin ‘Unicorn’, the name now used in English. ‘Licorn’ came from the 14th Italian ‘Alicornis’. Licornewith the added ‘e’ is the modern day French variant of the beast.
