A colossal fish that was 72ft across, 14ft in breadth and 7ft between its two front eyes. It had a further 6 eyes, 3 on each side of its body. Its head was similar to that of a pig and it had a crescent dorsal fin. It was caught on the Isle of Thylen in Scandinavia. It is said that when it was killed, it took 5 casks to hold its liver. The Marine Sow was documented by the European traveller Olaus Magnus in 1555.
