A sinister serpent of a vast lake feared by the Woodland Indians of North America. It had large scales, a scarlet head and eyes that emitted light. It swallowed whole many people until the hero Manabozho killed it by allowing himself to be swallowed and while dancing inside stabbed the heart of the snake opened its belly and escaped with other devoured victims.
