A generic name in mythology used by the people of Britain and Scandinavian to describe a large long creature without limbs that writhers on the ground. The word is used to sometimes describe creatures that are similar to huge serpents but not necessarily reptilian. It names derives from the Norse ‘ormr’ meaning Dragon.
