These are the souls of the dead that have returned to the land of the living. Unlike other Ghosts the Perfume Ghosts have no form but exist as smells. One sighting that took place happened in 1604 when a Ghost disappeared and left a smell which was unique to an individual who had recently died. This event was documented by John Aubery in his Miscellanies (1696).
