A creature believed to have lived in China according to ancient bestiaries. The Ranyi was a fish that had the head of a snake with horse’s ears and six feet. It lived in the lakes near the Yuan River of the Yingdi Mountain. It was believed that eating the Ranyi would prevent one from going blind and repel evil forces.
