A Dragon from medieval bestiaries. It name derives form ‘scitulus’ meaning ‘elegant’. This beast was like any other Dragon but it only had two front legs. Its body was multicoloured and was such a beautiful sight that people would stop to admire it. While struck with awe, the Scitalis would swoop down and kill its admirer making hunting very easy. According to the Anglo Saxon bestiary of 1220, the Scitalis could glow with immense heat and would emerge from the snow in Winter to shed its skin like a snake.
