A predatory sea monster that had the body of a fish but had the ears, head and legs of a hare. Behind its ears were the fins of a fish. It was considered a highly dangerous creature that ate anything within close proximity. This beast was sighted by the many European explorers of the New World in the 15th and 16th centuries.
