A creature that is part horse and part serpent form the tales of the Abenaki Native Americans. This being is also said to be a fish that has a mutilated head of a horse. Once a man murdered his wife and dumped her body in a lake. A monster then arose to eat the corpse. Later the man paddled across the lake on his canoe. But while doing so, the same monster arose from the depths, capsized the canoe and devoured the man. Since then the local people have never swam or travelled across that lake.
