The Egyptian god of the desert. All metals on this earth are said to be his bones. Originally he was depicted as having a human body with various heads, from an antelope to an aardvark. Later he was seen to have the head of an ass. He was born from the side of the goddess Nuit. He is also known as the god of night and is the opposite to Horus the god of the day. In Greek belief he was linked to Typhon, the ass-headed creature that attacked the Olympian gods. In early tales Set was believed to be Apophis Serpent who swallows the boat of Ra each night.
