The Shen is a name given to the various mountain gods whose individual names are not known. They were worshipped by small tribes of which there is little information about. They vary greatly but most are humanoid with animal heads or with goats and bird legs. Some had animal tails or arms. Others were not humanoid at all; some had the bodies of birds and the head of Dragons, some had a Dragons body and a human face and some had the body of a horse with a human face and were winged. The Shen all belonged to the mountain and had many offerings made to them. Some were offered jewels such as jade which may have been prominent in the mountain of that Shen. Others were offered sacrificial animals and other food offerings.
