An ox-like creature that first featured in classical literature of Rome in De Natura Animalium and later found in medieval bestiaries. It had the body of a large ox that had long grey hair. Much like a chameleon it was able to camouflage itself by changing the colours of its coat. It would do this to evade predatory animals and hunters.
