A large black water bull with fiery nostrils from Celtic Legend. It lived among the shores off the coasts but it frequently came onto land to mate with the cows. The offspring off these cows were called Corc-Chluassask meaning ‘Split Ears’ as these were cows that had only half an ear. In the Isle of Man they are known as Taroo Ustey and are considered less vicious than most sea creatures. On the Isle of Skye the Tarbh Uisge were killed for they brought bad luck to the land.
