A great hawk of the mythology of the Cakchiquel people of Guatemala in Central America. It is believed that Tiuh Tiuh created the first men on Earth by killing Coyote and mixing his blood with that of a Tapir and a serpent. This blood was combined with maize to form dough from which moulded fourteen women and thirteen men. These coupled together and formed seven tribes. Tiuh Tiuh commanded the leaders of the seven tribes and their warriors to follows him. They did so until they reached a sea that they could not cross. The two oldest leaders of the seven fell asleep and drowned. The rest used their red magic staffs they retrieved from the sun to stamp it in the river to cause it to split so they could walk through on the seabed to reach the other side to safety.
