From the folklore of the North American lumberjacks in the 19th and 20th centuries. A three legged beast of which its legs were all telescopic. It had a long snout of which it shot out clay to knock out it victim. It would use its telescopic legs to find its human victim and then stalk them quietly. When in close range, it would shoot them with its clay.
