A primordial Giant who with Gaia, gave birth to the Titans. Uranus had disposed of his children by forcing them to stay in Tartarus (the womb of Gaia). One of his children free from this capture, Kronos started a rebellion against this injustice. In this rebellion, Gaia helped and used a sickle to castrate Uranus. From his blood came the Furies, Hecatoncheires and Aphrodite. Then Kronus released his Titan siblings. Before Uranus died he prophesised that one of his children would overthrow Kronus. This child was Zeus.
