A fairy-like creature that is sometimes considered to be a Ghost of a woman who died in childbirth. She is seen washing bloody clothes in the Scottish Highlands. She washes the clothes of those who are soon to die. If the clothes belong to the observer then they will die very soon. She can be approached and if successfully answering her three questions she will obey three requests. Those daring enough can try to suckle her nipple of which they become her foster child. Also known in Scotland as Bean Nighe.
