A large and predacious lizard that terrorized the Native Australian people. It lived in a cave near the Murray River and would venture out to the camps to eat people. It had a large appetite and would consume up to 30 people a day. The Whowie quickly learnt to hunt the camps for children and avoid the sentries, but as it grew stronger it would raid both the sentries and camps for children and adults alike. The people of the village gathered together and devised a plan to kill the lizard. They found the Whowhie’s cave and they covered the entrance with brushwood and set fire to it. The cave was deep and complex and the fire burned for seven days before the Whowie emerged. When it came out coughing and weak, the villagers attacked it with a variety of weapons until it was dead.
